Overview

Restoran Yeo Sekeluarga, nestled on Jalan Tanjung Kupang in Gelang Patah, Johor, offers an inviting seafood dining experience on stilts overlooking open seas. The restaurant’s strategic coastal setting provides stunning daytime views stretching to Singapore, Forest City, and PTP, creating a serene backdrop that complements the fresh, bold flavors served.

The establishment specializes in classic Malaysian seafood dishes with a kelong-style ambiance—where rustic charm meets seafood mastery. Signature items like Udang Nestum and Sotong Telur Masin showcase skillful preparation, marrying crunch and rich salted egg flavors, while their Chilli Crab and Steam Prawn maintain a balance between tradition and vibrant spices. The Hong Kong Style Fish and Snapper Fish, steamed to tender perfection, highlight the kitchen's finesse in handling delicate white fish, though the seasoning may lean towards a saltier profile than usual.

The space itself encourages a relaxed, airy atmosphere with a moderately sized dining area accessed via a long pier, reminiscent of a rustic seafood village. The kelong-style structure enhances the maritime feel, attracting families or groups seeking fresh seafood away from crowded urban centers. Service flows quickly and efficiently, though sometimes lacking warmth, perhaps due to the restaurant’s focus on seamless operations.

Portion sizes can be modest, especially for medium servings recommended for three to four diners, which may prompt larger groups to consider ordering more generously. Noteworthy sides like Taugeh Ikan Masin and Kailan Ikan Masin complement the main seafood offerings, while unique touches like Coconut Pandan jelly and otah add local character—though these come at a cost and may vary in reception.

Overall, Restoran Yeo Sekeluarga stands out for its authentic coastal setting, well-executed seafood classics, and a genuine ambiance that highlights Johor's maritime heritage. It appeals to those seeking a seafood feast with a view, emphasizing quality over quantity and an immersive dining environment that elevates the flavors of the sea.

Came during weekdays (wednesday) not many customer and not many choices of fish. But the food was cooks very well. For three people they recommend small size but I think not enough. Medium size maybe OK. The scenery was very nice at daytime. Can see singapore, forest city, PTP and open sea. The staff was helpful maybe because not so many customer. Service also fast. The food price for me is reasonable. Parking is convenience.

Seafood restaurant kelong style. A long path leading to the restaurant. Coconut jelly and otah are placed on the table. Otah was served cold rather than hot. The coconut jelly was forgettable. To note that these are not complimentary and are charged based on whatever are consumed. The portions are tiny. For medium-sized, it is good for 3-4 persons. Sambal kangkong was decent. Sambal had a good spicy note while the kangkong retained it's texture. Kung Pao chicken cubes were deep fried. Slightly crunchy but the sauce was sweet and tangy. Steamed seabass Hong Kong style was cooked perfectly. Approximately 600-700gm. The sauce was salty since it was not diluted to the usual Chinese style. Cuttlefish with salted egg was a winner here. We had another portion. Deep fried perfectly and the salted egg sauce complemented the dish. Service is brisk, though not enthusiastic. The sight of its surroundings is amazing and captivating.

Delicious food with a lot to choose from the menu. The sotong goreng telur masin and siakap steam with lemon is recommended. The view is also very nice. Its adviseable to come early and avoid the typical dinner time rush as this place can be quite full.

Food servings may seem lesser when compared to other restaurants of similar settings. Food quality and taste means expectations. Restaurant is built on stilts.

The taste was above-average IMO. Have to write up your own orders. To reduce disputes I guess? The pleasant dining atmosphere, coupled with scenic views, enhances the overall dining ambiance.
